    Jo is a Chemist, Herbal Botanist, beekeeper and natural beauty products lover and is committed that Beauty Kitchen 100% makes a difference, from ensuring all products, not just the ingredients are sustainable as possible.

  • Mark Evans

    European Commercial Director INOLEX, UK

    Mark Evans is the European Commercial Director at Inolex. After studying Biochemistry at the University of Kent (Canterbury), Mark joined the Organics division of Henkel (subsequently rebranded as Cognis and in-turn purchased by BASF) in 1999 as a Technical Service Chemist. This role was his introduction to personal care formulating, covering the basics of emulsion chemistry and surfactant systems. At Cognis, Mark specialised in the development of cold process liquid emulsion concentrates (PIT technology), formulating new concentrates that are commercially available today. After five years in the laboratory Mark moved to a technical sales role at UK distributor, Aston Chemicals. There his personal care knowledge extended further, covering the technical aspects of nearly every application of raw materials (including skin care, hair care, sun care, colour cosmetics, AP/Deo, baby care, naturals and actives). In 2009 Mark moved to Inolex as Sales Manager North Europe, progressing to his current role of European Commercial Director. His knowledge of the personal care industry and formulating experience are an ideal match for the forward thinking and innovative raw material manufacturer, Inolex.

  • Sven Gehrig

    Member of Cosmetic Safety and Information WALA Heilmittel GmbH (Dr. Hauschka Cosmetics)

    Sven Gehrig studied Food Chemistry at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), which ended after a practical year at the CVUA (Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Agency) Karlsruhe in a degree as “Staatl. gepr. Lebensmittelchemiker” (State Certified Food Chemist). After different internships and Jobs – amongst other in the European Parliament and the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Bureau of Investigation – he now works in the field of Cosmetic Safety and Information at WALA Heilmittel GmbH for Dr. Hauschka Cosmetics. He is a member of the working group “Cosmetics” of the german Food Chemical Society and of the impartial scientific committee of NATRUE.

  • Jan Kuśmirek

    Director and NPD Consultant Genera Consultancy Ltd., Elemis & Fragrant Earth International, UK

    Attuned to Physics than Chemistry he has spent some forty years in the fragrance, aromatic and cosmetic industry. He practiced in Naturopathic and Herbal Medicine and was Marketing Manager for the Soil Association developing organic standards and the symbol scheme. Organic agriculture has been at the heart of his career path.

    Whilst promoting the development of natural ingredients and extraction processes Jan became aware of the values of aromatic materials in medicine and cosmetics he trained in perfumery and other aromatic applications both in Morocco and UK. He created the Origins brand and then Elemis to which he remains as senior NPD consultant. Genera consultancy has been instrumental in the development or creations of many brands such as Nude, Aromatherapeutics, Nelson & Russell and others.

    The Fragrant Earth Company under his control creative is an influential proponent of natural fragrances and materials shaping fragrances of distinction in a world of perfume where caution is required concerning brand ethics.

    Working within the beauty & cosmetics industry I work with companies to analyse their product range, design sales & marketing strategies and then ensure they can implement them to achieve growth. I specialise in understanding the consumer and what makes them say yes at the point of purchase as well as knowing the retailer and their specific aims, then I bring them together to create successful brands.
